Ooltewah Youth Association supports 3 seasons of Baseball: Spring, All-Stars, and Fall.
Our Spring season begins with evaluations in late February for age groups 5/6, 7/8, and 9/10. Rookies begin in mid-March while 11/12 evaluations take place in mid-March after Middle Schools select their teams. 13/14 year olds play in the Summer. The Spring season ends before Memorial Day. No players are "cut" in the Spring. Everyone who signs up, plays. Evaluations are held so Coaches can try and draft equal teams. There are no evaluations for Rookie League, which is for 3 & 4 year olds, since many of these players have never played before. Rookies play without umpires.
Our All-Star season begins with try-outs in late April. Teams begin competition Memorial Day weekend and generally finish at the State Tournament shortly after Independence Day. Teams that reach World Series eligibility begin play in late July. "Cuts" are made for All-Star teams, which can vary in number of players. Some teams select 10, some select 13. That decision is up to the Head Coach. The All-Star team Head Coach is voted on by Spring season Head Coaches.
Our Fall season begins right after Labor Day and ends near Halloween. No evaluations are held and no players are "cut." Rookies play without umpires. 5/6, 7/8, 9/10 and 11/12 play with one umpire in the fall. Games are similar to scrimmages, allowing time outs for instruction. Coaches are encouraged to rotate players into new positions every inning.
Baseball registration fees include a hat and jersey:
$65 - Rookie League (T-ball for 3 & 4 year olds)
$110 - Coach Pitch (5/6 & 7/8 year olds)
$110 - Minor League/Kid Pitch (9/10 year olds)
$110 - Freshman League (11/12 year olds)
$130 - Sophomore League (13/14 year olds)
$100 - Fall Ball
