Ooltewah Youth Association is home to the Chattanooga region's leading recreational softball program. We support 3 seasons of Softball: Spring, Summer All-Stars and Fall.

Our Spring season runs late-February through late May. The Spring season ends before Memorial Day. No players are "cut" in the Spring. Everyone who signs up plays. We now offer "club" softball in the spring too. This is for players interested in playing a tournament schedule, in addition to their regular season games. Players tryout for this team and there is only one club team per age group. More information is available on the Ooltewah Softball Club page.

Summer softball is for our All-star teams. Players tryout for the team in late April/early May. Players are then invited to summer teams. Rosters range from 11 to 13 players, depending on the coach. In 2024, we fielded 6u, 8u, 10u and 13u All-star teams and the 10u and 13u teams won Dizzy Dean State!

Our Fall season begins with practices in August and games the Tuesday after Labor Day. The season ends around Halloween. No evaluations are held and no players are "cut" in the fall.

Age groups offered include:

6u (5 and 6 year olds, plus some 4's that will turn 5 during the season)
8u (7 and 8 year olds)
10u (9 and 10 year olds)
13u (11, 12 and 13 year olds)
16u (13, 14, 15, and 16 year olds) when there is enough intereest

The age group a player plays in is determined by their age on January 1st of each year. In the Fall, ALL PLAYERS MOVE UP, so the age group is determined by their age on January 1, 2025.

Spring OYA Softball 2025

A NOTE ABOUT REGISTRATION DEADLINES: There are a limited number of roster spots, based on available coaches/teams. Once all spots are gone, register for the waitlist to reserve a spot and you will be contacted when one opens. Do not wait until the "last" day of open registration to sign up.

Ooltewah Youth Association offers Softball for 5/6, 7/8, 9/10, 11-13 and 14-16 year old girls. The season begins with practices in late February and ends with an end of season tournament May 15-18. The regular season game schedule begins March 24. OYA also hosts a spring softball tournament, which all OYA teams are expected to play in. The tournament date is April 26 & 27.

The age group a player plays in is determined by their age on January 1st of each year. For example, if your child is currently 6 and will turn 7 on March 30, she still plays as a 6 year old in the spring and will move to 7/8's in the fall, unless a transfer is requested. Players CANNOT play down. For example, if your child turned 9 on December 28th, she CANNOT play in the 7/8 division. She has to play in the 9/10's.

Teams generally play two games a week, one home game on Tuesdays and one at a nearby ballpark on Monday or Thursday. The regular season consists of about 12 "Scenic City" games spread over the course of 7 weeks.

OYA players also have access to additional opportunities not offered at other parks. Spring players can tryout for our new Club team that play a tournament schedule AND all spring players have the opportunity to tryout for our summer All-star teams for a chance to compete at the Dizzy Dean Softball State, World Series and National Championship! The All-star season runs from late May to mid July.

General registration is open until 4:00 p.m. on February 23 -- but may close sooner in age groups where we reach a maximum number of players. Don't wait until the last minute to secure your daughter's spot!

One free warm-up clinic will be offered to currently registered OYA players. You MUST have already registered for Spring ball to be eligible to attend. This will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at East Hamilton Rec Park (5208 Little Debbie Parkway).

KID PITCH: Ages 9 to 13

Saturday, February 1st from 2pm to 4pm on Field 2

COACH PITCH: Ages 5 to 8

Saturday, February 1st from 3:15pm to 5pm on Field 1
